Our story

Our business first started life back in 1987. The original practice was established in McCrae Street - soon afterwards moving to 21 Wills Street.  Mark Letts joined the practice in 1991 to become Lane and Letts Optometrists. In February 2004, we moved to a custom renovated beautiful California bungalow at 82 Wills Street, with the new name Wills Street Eyecare. This remains our current premises today.

Wills Street Eyecare is now owned and operated by Mark Letts and Kirily Bowen, who have a combined experience of 50 years in optometry.  Kirily Bowen joined the practice in 2000, and later became joint owner in 2007.

With additional optometrist Danielle Adams and a highly-trained support team, Wills Street Eyecare is an independent practice dedicated to ensuring you have your best vision, your best style and your best possible eye health.

We believe in:

Spending enough time with our patients, to hear and address their vision concerns;

Following through on patient care, to ensure that our prescriptions, glasses and optometry care lead to the best possible outcome;

Selling quality frames, lenses and contact lenses that give great vision and make people feel good about themselves;

Evidence-based practice, using current research to advise and direct our optometry;

Keeping up with modern equipment technologies for the best possible care and to maintain accurate patient records;

Maintaining open lines of communication with the GPs, opthalmologists and pharmacists who share in the care of our patients;

A “culture of care”, ensuring that our cheerful team of staff are satisfied and confident in their roles;

Sharing our optometric and practice management knowledge with our colleagues, junior optometrists, interns and students.
